This jacket is part of the military cold/wet weather layering system and is commonly referred to as a rain jacket, wet weather parka, Gore-Tex jacket, or Level 6 shell.
The Gen III Level 6 jacket is designed as a lightweight outer shell for protection against rain, wind, and wet weather while allowing room for base layers, fleece, or uniform layers underneath.
